I love the surprise that we get from seeing out of the ordinary things in ordinary places. That moment of surprise helps bring awareness to our surroundings and creates an opportunity to reimagine our sense of place. The relationship that these pieces have with the environment communicates to the viewer. It is this connection that helps activate our imagination, which helps us see the world differently.

Treasure Tower

Treasure Tower

This is one in my series of conical towers which explore the intersection between natural structures (trees, rocks, plants) and human built architecture. Visitors are invited to open the small doors and touch the items inside. Enjoy it on many levels - as an abstract linear sculpture which casts curious shadows at different times of day, as a celebration of light and color, and as an invitation to play.

The Universal Language

It was once stated that music is the universal language of mankind. People from all walks of life can get together and, without speaking a word, share a moment through music. This can bring us together when there are many factors in our world driving us apart.

Each is featured in an original coloring book by my collaborator, Aly Munger, titled The Turtles of Eagle Marsh. She graciously agreed to paint the Map Turtle. Each one hand carved from single pieces of walnut, poplar, and birch, using traditional carving skills.
