Cecelia Moseley

Cecelia Moseley, a mixed media artist from Meridian, Mississippi, received her BFA from the University of Mississippi in 2020 and is currently completing her MFA at Louisiana State University. Upon graduation, she will be teaching as an adjunct sculpture professor at LSU Fall of 2024. Over the past three years, Moseley has captivated audiences throughout the southern region with her public installations and permanent sculptures in Meridian, MS, Oxford, MS, Macon, GA, and Decatur, IN. She is drawn to many processes and materials such as metals, acrylic, paper, ceramics, styrofoam, light, and vinyl. Her work explores the perception and cognition involved in navigating learning challenges.

Panel Installation - 2023

Growing up, my mind often returns to the difficulty I had with learning. These 2 seven foot tall panels are plasma cut statements reflecting on my struggle with dyslexia. The graffiti-like painted letters on the surface are created as a distraction for the viewer to have a hard time with reading the plasma cut script. Struggling to read, the viewer feels how hard it is for a dyslexic person to read.

Learning Curve - 2024

"Learning Curve" represents a significant milestone in my artistic journey as one of my earliest public art sculptures. The sculpture encapsulates the complex journey of education, highlighting the transformative process of overcoming challenges and acquiring new skills and experiences, especially for those navigating these spaces with a learning disability.

Sources - 2025

"'Sources is built from scrap shapes left over from earlier projects by reimagining once-overlooked pieces into something new. By welding them together, the process reflects my experience growing up with dyslexia—learning to find connection, new meaning, and strength in what's often missed, and discovering the beauty in transforming it into something new."
