Pentatonic - 2022

“Pentatonic” is an interactive installation with 5 colorful tone pipes. These 5 tone pipes, each attached to a corner of the sculpture’s pentagon base, make up what is known as a pentatonic scale in music theory. Viewers can create music and explore the pentatonic scale by lightly tapping the lever atop each tone pipe. The 5 music notes used in this sculpture are C#/Db, D#/Eb, F#/Gb, G#/Ab, A#/Bb, which are also known as the black keys on a piano. The pentatonic scale lacks the musical tension and resolution characteristic of other commonly used music scales, which enables viewers of this sculpture to create harmonious and balanced melodies.

Inner Peace - 2022

The sculpture’s imagery of three crescents symmetrically balanced atop a pyramid is a contemplation on the concept of inner peace. Additionally, the textural elements visible in the sculpture’s steel reflect an appreciation for the contrast and diversity experienced in our collective
